As shown on the infographic above, of the world population of 7.83 billion people, two thirds (5.22 billion people) have at least one mobile phone, 4.66 billion (59.5%) are internet users, and 4.20 billion (53.6%) are active social media users. It is important to note that these three figures are independent - the fact that 4.66 billion people are internet users doesn't mean all 4.66 billion are mobile phone users. Same applies for social media users, although to be a social media user it can be assumed that one has to have access to the internet, but the internet doesn't have to be accessed through a mobile phone.

Although Turkey has more people with mobile connections, more internet users, and more active social media users, what's important here are the percentages.

As mobile connections in Turkey increased 2.7%, it decreased 3.6% in UK. While number of internet users increased 6%, in UK the change is only +0.5%. Number of active social media users in Turkey increased 11.1% with 6.0 million new users while in UK the change is about one third of Turkey with 2.3 million new active social media users.
